Web development has been my passion since I was
11
years old. My goal is to always build applications that are scalable and efficient under the
hood
while providing engaging, pixel-perfect user experiences. I believe in
always following best practices and writing clean, legible code.
When I'm not in front of a computer screen, I'm probably working out at the gym, watching anime, or
trying out new recipes in the kitchen.
I'm currently a Software Engineer at Kaplan Test Prep in NYC. Right now, I'm Using Angular 7 to work on
a multi-tenant content authoring platform and architecting scalable and reusable UI layouts and
components to be used across multiple frameworks (React and Angular). Previously worked on a
student-facing question bank application using Angular 4, Flexbox, NodeJS, and ngrx - Kaplan’s
first product in a new Front End platform. I also championed the creation and adoption of Kaplan's
living style guide
and reusable component library, built with Angular 5 using the presentational/container architecture.
I am also Kaplan Test Prep's accessibility expert,
certified in Information and Communication Technology Accessiblity (ICT). I
perform manual usability
tests, assist other developers, and evangelize accessibility best practices to ensure Kaplan products
can
be used by blind, mentally/physically impaired, and other special-needs students.
I have also taught hours of front-end topics such as CSS Grid, BEM Architecture, Presentational and
Container
Components, and Chrome DevTools. Some of the presentation material can be viewed
here.
Previously, I was at The Awareness Group where I created websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
for clients
such as Cirque du Soleil, Paramount, and HBO. I also designed content (posters, social media assets)
for
the UFC, in addition to managing radio PR for fighters before events.
"I had worked with Angela at Kaplan Test Prep closely on the style guide application and accessibility projects. Angela is a standout talent in front end engineering. Not only that she had an immediate grasp of the architecture of the projects that were assigned to her, but also she could always efficiently put her brilliant ideas in to practice within short time. I was particularly impressed by her 2-day development for the accessibility style guide website skeleton, by fulfilling usability heuristics and accessibility standards. She's not only a self-start practitioner, but also a trainer and knowledge sharer. She never hesitated to spread her skills and knowledge to others that could benefit as many people around her as possible. Her comprehensive knowledge and skills of JavaScript frameworks (Angular and React) ensured her codes to pass code reviews with no flaws. Her proactive attitude and enthusiasm to learn new skills always made dramatic differences in the whole new front end platform team and made her stand out as a valuable asset of the company. As a team member or a leader, Angela earns my highest recommendation." - Jia Ma (via Linkedin)
